{le show} Philosophy Fall 2011

I figured that before I started to highlight my favorite spring 2012 shows, I should probably showcase a couple of my faves from the current season...

Philosophy {Fall 2011}

Alberta Feretti's collection for Philosophy was not one for creating any huge waves in the fashion world, for as is generally the case, most of the really wearable/beautiful collections never do.  However, if you love ladylike dressing by way of tailored pea coats and mod dresses, then this collection was one for the books.  Ms. Feretti even shunned the sometimes garish trend of bright color-blocking to showcase pale roses, nudes, and ice blues.  Colors that normally evoke spring, seemed right at home on wool baby dolls trimmed with satin.

And while this collection shunned the, as Feretti put it, "mixed-up, magpie approach" taken by most designers this season; it did openly embrace the trend of evoking a swingin 60s London vibe...albeit the very proper swingin ladies of that era...

The song "Parole Parole" sung by the sixties Italian pop star Mina Mazzini and actor Alberto Lupo helped round out the sweet little retro vision

*at this very intimate runway show, all of the models first emerged with some type of coat/jacket on, which was subsequently removed to reveal a perfectly coordinated ensemble underneath.

some other highlights

*show notes; Arizona Muse (pictures 5/17/18), who had her big break last year as a Prada "only girl", both opened and closed the show.  It was held February 12, 2011 in NYC.
